SCARS Christmas Party – December 7, 2024
The SCARS Christmas Party will be held at Ted’s Steakhouse, 337 Northeast Blvd., in Clinton on Saturday, December 7th, from 4-6 p.m. All members may bring one guest. Price for your meal is up to you. Everyone can order off the menu. We have a private room so please RSVP no later than November 23rd so we know how many to expect. Come on out! Great food, fellowship, door prizes, and more!

Winter Field Day is an exciting annual event for amateur radio enthusiasts, taking place on the last full weekend of January. It offers a unique opportunity for radio operators to set up field operations in remote locations. The Winter Field Day event aims to help participants improve their preparedness for disasters and enhance their operational abilities in adverse conditions.
Guest Speakers – February 8, 2025
We will have 2 guest speakers at our February monthly meeting. Jeremy Gilchrist and Hector Gonzalez both members of the Cape Fear Amateur Radio Society (CFARS) in Fayetteville, will be giving an exciting presentation on all about contesting. You don’t want to miss this!

Jeremy first became interested in radio through the Civil Air Patrol as a young teenager. First licensed in 2018, he now holds an Amateur Extra license as of 2024. He is married to his best friend Jenna and is father to 3 soon to be amateur radio operators. Jeremy’s main radio interests are chasing DX and contesting, specifically the NC QSO Party, Winter Field Day, ARRL Field Day, and 10 – 10 International. He enjoys building antennas and helping fellow radio operators build and maintain their stations. His personal goals for 2025 are to be a completely operational and proficient CW operator and to continue to experience the satellite side of ham radio.

Hector was originally licensed in 1987 as WP4HLY in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He pulled radio operator duties in the military with the 1-508th Airborne Infantry in the Republic of Panama and spent more than 12 years overseas. Hector enjoys chasing DX, contesting, and participating in Parks On The Air (POTA). He believes in POTA as the #1 Operator training development tool and achieved 58 POTA activations in one month during September 2024. A personal goal of his is to upgrade to Amateur Extra.

NC State QSO Party – February 23, 2025
Get on the air and get ready for some friendly competition!
Each individual club member will work the NC QSO Party from home. You do not have to be on the air the entire 10 hours, just what you can comfortably do. Each member turns in their log to the NC QSO Party website. After the official results are published, we can then determine the winners among our club members. There will be certificates awarded from SCARS.
