Member Recognition
Congratulations to SCARS President, Wayne Carpus, W2ZDP for being recognized by ARRL for his continuous membership of 60 years.
NC ARRL Newsletter January 4, 2025
The latest NC ARRL Section Newsletter is available at:
https://www.ncarrl.org/Newsletters/January_4_2025.html
The ARRL bulk email system has been unusable since the latter portion of May 2024 due to a cyberattack at HQ. As a result, the only way Section Managers can communicate with members is by sending the Section Newsletter to club presidents along with a request that they forward the newsletter to club members and interested persons.
Like all other issues of the NC Section Newsletter, this newsletter is archived at ncarrl.org.
I hope 2025 is good for you and your families and that you are blessed with good health. Stay warm and do something that will help the thousands of persons in western North Carolina who lost so much as a result of Tropical Storm Helene.

VE Team
SCARS would like to get a VE Team together in order to
offer testing right here in Sampson County. Currently we
have 2 VE’s however we need 3 in order to offer testing.
There is no license testing being offered in Sampson County
at this time. People have to travel out of county in order to
test for or upgrade their license. Offering testing here could
get more people interested in ham radio and potentially
boost the club membership also.
Becoming a VE is relatively simple. Review the examiner’s
manual, take a 40-question open book exam and then submit
the paperwork. And, it is free. You must hold a general class
or higher license and you must have a license higher than the
license class you are testing. If you are interested in helping
out in this area or want more information please contact
SCARS President, Wayne Carpus at: sparks4151@aol.com
